Alexa Jones, 18, winning the coveted title, Miss Orange County Teen Regional 2012, from California, learned that her Father Died in a car accident weeks before she competes at the Biggest State Pageant in the country.
Alexa Jones, a communications major from California State University in San Marcos was crowned Miss Orange County Teen Regional 2012 just a few months ago in Huntington Beach, California in front of a large sold out crowd. This beautiful College Student is said to be one of the favorite to win the Teen State Title on January 7 & 8, 2012.
One afternoon, during a rigorous training with her Pageant Director, Giselle Boone, her phone rang. “She appeared to be worried and just really pale,” Giselle said. Alexa replied, “I just need to go home.” Alexa soon rushed back to San Diego with her Mother. She called her Dad to find out who got into a car accident but he never answered his cell phone. About half an hour, half way to San Diego, she received the horrible news that it was her father that died in a car crash.
News coverage surfaced that a 52-year-old North County, San Diego man had died over the weekend from a tragic accident near his home. Alexa’s Dad, Mark Andrew Jones of Ramona, California was riding with his best friend when the car veered off the roadway and overturned after 3:30 p.m.
Alexa’s message to her dad, “I will miss you Daddy and I love you.” Alexa knows that it is very difficult, painful and sad when you lose a parent. She would like to share her story and help mentor other teens on dealing with the death of a love one. She is such a strong role model and her goal is to speak to the youth around the world on how to deal with this pain by talking to others, sharing their feelings, learning how to cry and how to handle certain tough situations such as holidays, memorable moments, not blaming others and relying on special mentors that will help guide them during those tough times.
“I never thought that I will go through life without my Dad. I often think about teens who lost their father in war or health reasons and now, I know how they feel and every time the memories about my Dad come to mind, all I can think of is to cherish those special moments and be grateful for him. I want to mentor those Teens to help them cope with a loss of a love one and to keep their life in a straight path,” said Alexa. “Alexa is such a strong and loving young lady and we are so proud of her for being an amazing role model to teens amidst this tragedy. She is so passionate about this.” Said Giselle, her Pageant Director. (Watch Alexa at our pageant on Youtube, 2012 Miss Orange County Regional).
